    In depth

    Verdict

Orcadian is a potentially useful recruit from the Flat and his class (rated 109 at his best) may be enough to help him see off Carnival Town and Corble, who are others to keep on the right side in future. Song Of Vala is another that has the potential to make an impact at some point and, with his yard in good form, he is one for each-way punters to bear in mind if he attracts support from the betting ring. Corble has experience in point-to-points and is in the right hands to transfer his ability to National Hunt rules. The Phillip Hobbs-trained gelding is another to monitor closely in the betting market. Carnival Town is a well-bred individual that should have come on a bundle from his debut. However, his pedigree does suggest that he will need a good test of his stamina and he looks vulnerable to anything that possess a turn of foot. Which is where we turn to Orcadian, who had the good habit of being able to up the ante in the latter stages of his races on the level. The ground should not be a problem and this half-brother to Rapscallion is fancied to have too much speed when it really matters.
