Verdict

Protocol landed this event and while he is well in this time around, he has not run too well of late and it may well pay to side with Shaffishayes. Mary Reveley's old timer is not the horse he was but he retains enough ability to land prizes in this grade . With Owyn Nelmes booked he is in real terms racing off a mark 9lb lower than on his last start. Allegedly Red has an interesting jockey booking in Tom Scudamore. She won a Catterick seller over 2m3f but is yet to conclusively prove that she has enough speed to win over two miles. Lone Soldier put up a fair effort in a seller behind Cork Harbour and on that evidence would be towards the head of the market. His supports have had little to write home about since. Vulcan Lane was given a positive ride in a better race at Uttoxeter last week and could go close if reproducing that effort. A trappy contest but Shaffishayes is given the vote ahead of Vulcan Lane.
