In depth

Verdict

Happy Dubai has been one of the finds of the Carnival so far and followed his surprise success over Monsieur Joe over this trip with an even more convincing success over an extra furlong two weeks ago. Inevitably he's shot up the weights as a result and Monsieur Joe, who is 9lb better off for half-a-length, gets a very good opportunity to reverse the form. However, the one to take from that first race is MISTER MANANNAN, who was having his first start since July and had by far the worst of the draw. He did very well to get to the front until tiring in the latter stages and looks set for revenge. Invincible Ash made a fair debut here a month ago and will have come on for the run but it's a very long time since Compasivo Cat was winning at the highest level in Argentina and a bigger threat could emerge in the shape of the Scarborough Stakes winner Prohibit, who had a nice pipe-opener here last week.
