Archers Road won well last time out but the form took a bit of a knock on Wednesday night so we will instead select CAPERCAILLIE to get the better of Goodbye Earl. The selection hails from a yard that do well with their juveniles at this venue, a point highlighted when Capercaillie made a winning racecourse debut here last month. She showed terrific speed that day and she looks a filly with real promise. She is well entered up and she can enhance her reputation here. Archers Road won well at Beverley last time but the horse that finished third in that race was a beaten favourite at Kempton on Wednesday night, albeit by a narrow margin, so there is now a question mark over the strength of the form. Goodbye Earl would have claims on her best form, most notably her fourth in the Lily Angnes at Chester, but she found one too good in a maiden at Haydock last time and she could be vulnerable again. Mr Smithson does have ability and he should win races this season, but he might find this company a little too hot. We will therefore stick with Capercaillie to land the prize.
