Verdict

A fascinating renewal, featuring the return to action of the Grand Annual winner Alderwood, who was beaten by today's rival Special Tiara on faster ground at Aintree subsequently. The pair are certain to make their mark this campaign but both were behind OSCARS WELL when the latter finished runner-up in the Champion Novice Chase at Punchestown, form that could be good enough for this. Jessica Harrington's charge had found 2m4f beyond him when beaten by Realt Mor at Fairyhouse earlier and can take his revenge over this trip. Twinlight will need to raise his game but there's every chance he will do so this season and is another to contend with.
