Verdict

Cadoudoff and Bally Gilbert both produced better performances last time. Globalisation has yet to win over hurdles but dead-heated off a higher mark over fences at Ffos Las in November. Handicap debutant Thomas Shelby has been showing promise while the handicapper is giving the mare At First Light every chance of ending her losing run. Nobody could begrudge DESERT RETREAT a first victory as he’s come up against well-handicapped rivals in his last two starts in which he’s proved that staying is his game. Wishicould and Souriyan look best of the rest.
