Verdict

LADY HESTIA can defy her recent penalty to see off Bugsy's Boy and Arab League. Despite proving easy to back at Bath, she confirmed her run at Kempton to be all wrong and could still be open to further progression. She interestingly holds an entry at York on Saturday and would be unpenalised for that if successful here. Bugsy's Boy is better known as a hurdler these days but he stays this trip well and the handicapper offers him a chance off 68. Arab League was well touted ahead of a recent event at Haydock though steps into unknown territory as far as the trip is concerned this afternoon. Absolut Power seldom wins though will give each-way backers plenty of fun for their money. Wester Ross has the ability to win this though he is incredibly quirky and therefore difficult to catch right. Jamie Poulton's stayers have kept their counsel this term and this maiden did not do a lot wrong when beaten a short head at Newcastle. Gandalf won well at Kempton on the polytrack but this looks a much tougher assignment this afternoon. The longest race of the day is our lucky last and while the odds will be cramped, we see no reason to desert Lady Hestia at the moment.
