Verdict

A cracking contest where it may just be worth giving another chance to PRINCIPAL ROLE although it would appear that she has her quirks. Hymnsheet rates an obvious danger along with Myplacelater. Pollenator should have her work cut out under the conditions of this race whilst this is a big step up from a Nottingham maiden for Desert Sage who showed a deal of promise on that occasion where there was cut in the ground. Fatanah won easily at Sandown but she was allowed an easy time of things out in front and Issabella Gem (who was held up well in rear before making striking late headway) may well ask more questions of her this time around. The depth of Hymnsheet's maiden win hasn't been tested but she's bred to be smart and is in the right hands whilst Wedding March finished a close fourth in the Marcel Boussac for Andre Fabre which is respectable enough but this regally bred filly may well prove an even better proposition this year. Myplacelater got the better of Derby Trial winner Bullet Train on her penultimate start before finishing close up in the Cheshire Oaks where she would have appreciated a stronger pace. It's debateable whether she'll get that here but the return to this venue will suit. The lack of a decent gallop counted against Principal Role at Newmarket where the quirky filly pulled too hard through the opening stages of the race. She has something to prove and there'll be no hiding place here but Principal Role may yet be able to step into the limelight.
