Richard Hughes probably had the choice of the Richard Hannon pair and his decision to stick with GOLD TOP appears significant. Already a winner here, she will be in receipt of a 5lb fillies allowance and the champion jockey is likely to be spending plenty of time in the sauna in order to get down to his minimum weight. Cricklewood Green was the lesser fancied of a pair of Hannon runners on debut at Salisbury, and having started slowly, the gelding gave generously to cause an upset. Lanark didn't do a lot wrong in a nursery at York and the Goodwood winner looks an ideal type for conditions events. Mick Channon is yet to have a juvenile winner at Newbury this season and Rosso Corsa takes a marked drop in grade having run in both the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Superlative at Newmarket.
