In depth

Verdict

This is a race in which the betting market should definitely be monitored, but with Jeremy Noseda's juveniles in good heart at present, Sivivatu is the pick ahead of Giradii, Punta Galera and Aamaaq. There are plenty of others that should be mentioned, including the John Gosden pair Fredericksburg and Pure Illusion, but it is impossible to assess the ability of so many newcomers, so only a very tentative vote goes the way of Sivivatu. The son of Stravinsky, like the rest of the stable's youngsters, is sure to be well forward, and the fact that he lines up at Newbury speaks volumes. Girardii is a half-brother to Armiger and Besiege and id definitely worth a mention along with Punt Galera, China Pearl and Roya, with the Hannon stable churning out two-year-old winners steadily. Of those to have already seen the racecourse, Aamaaq makes some appeal, having finished third to a Hannon inmate, Gin Jockey, on his Newmarket bow. It is a real puzzle in truth though, with the pin coming down on Sivivatu.
