Verdict

The three-year-olds Rainbow Peak and Bab Al Salam don't look amazingly well-treated and so it may pay to look elsewhere; DR LIVINGSTONE's best form has tended to come at this time of the season and he is preferred to Namibian Orator. Charlie Egerton's son of Dr Fong races off a mark of 87 today, and whilst that is 8lb above his highest winning mark, he has run well off 84 before so the mark shouldn't hinder too much. He handles some cut in the ground so the weather forecast shouldn't worry too much, and a big run is expected. At the bottom of the weights, the interesting runner is Namibian Orator. Sir Michael Stoute's son of Cape Cross hasn't been rushed along and there was plenty of promise in his run behind Proponent earlier this month when dropped back to the mile trip. Wintercast has some solid form from the spring to her name, Cill Rialaig has now won three of her last five starts and seems on cracking terms with herself, whilst Rainbow Peak is unbeaten in two and shapes like a high class horse. However his mark of 97 leaves little room for manoeuvring, as does Bab Al Salam's handicap mark of 95. The last-named was disappointing last time out at Newmarket and there are some holes to be picked in his form. The Cayterers belied market expectations with a fine eighth in the Cambridgeshire, Kaolak's fine season looks to be catching up with him, whilst William Blake's handicap mark refuses to move because of his consistency in defeat. At a price Spell Caster cannot be overlooked, but in a competitive handicap the win can go the way of Dr Livingstone we presume.
