In depth

Verdict

Advance was winning for the third time this season at Ayr last month and has only been raised 2lb. Another bold bid is anticipated and Cadmium is also in good form. She's been a bit more consistent this year and is one of three previous course and distance winners in the line-up. My Single Malt and Uncle Brit are the others, though their claims are less obvious. Red Paladin usually concedes ground at the start but invariably finishes with a flourish and can't be ruled out. TAQNEEN won his maiden on soft ground at Thirsk a year ago. He wore blinkers that day and the headgear is back on for the first time this season so Ed Dunlop's charge gets a tentative vote eased in grade.
