In depth

Verdict

BLAKE DEAN looked on the upgrade when landing a Uttoxeter handicap in November and though he has been a disappointing favourite in his next two starts this is such a poor contest that compensation awaits. Scimon Templar has a similar profile in that he cost his supporters dear in his last two outings in the spring after a very good run in heavy going at Kelso. Winning point-to-pointer Jasper Massini was in poor form when last seen almost a year ago and his only victory came on good ground. Carters Rest hasn't shown much for a long time including between the flags recently while High Fair was beaten a long way in a four-runner race at Kelso. Copt Hill won a handicap at Sedgefield a year ago from just 1lb lower but has hardly picked his feet up subsequently.
