In depth

Verdict

Accordello is going the right way and can outstay the opposition, with Double Vodka, Mister Arjay and Mulligan's Pride all respected. Accordello showed quite useful form when plying her trade in bumper company, having started off by chasing home Senorita Rumbelita on her Newbury debut in 2004. Subsequently second to Alan King's useful mare again at Aintree in April last year, she then took part in a couple of Grade 2 hurdle contests at Haydock before her attentions were switched to the level. Keith Reveley's mare will no doubt be going back over timber later this year, but connections obviously feel that there is a race to be won over a trip on the Flat, and based on her three outings so far this year, they could be right. Robert Winston takes over from the trainer's son, and a big run is on the cards. Double Vodka was a useful handicapper on the level for Lynda Ramsden, but has been running over hurdles since moving to Chris Grant. Successful on his last start at Aintree in May, he is respected along with Mister Arjay, who is not too badly handicapped on the best of his Flat form. Mulligan's Pride won a poor claimer at Redcar on his first outing under Flat rules and needs to improve, and for the winner we return to Accordello.
