Shmookh didn't stay a mile last time out and now dropped back to sprinting, John Dunlop's colt gets the vote to get his head back in front. Vitznau, He's A Humbug and Utmost Respect make it to the shortlist. Effective on good to soft, the selection has appeared to run his better races on a quicker surface and would therefore not want the heavens to open. However with Wimbledon out of the way, the weather forecast looks brighter and so do his chances. A powerfully-built sort, he travels well in his races and with plenty of pace options in this contest, he may get a good tow and the race run to suit. City Of Tribes is really a five furlong horse so is passed over, along with Mastership who drops in grade. Lipocco was only beaten a short-head last time out and must be high on anyone's shortlist for his in-form stable. Vitznau comes here chasing the hat-trick after wins at Epsom and Chester and Richard Hannon's charge is tough as old boots. Off The Record has been winning in poor races so is overlooked, along with front-runner Express Wish who may find this field harder to dominate from his middle draw. Utmost Respect is aptly named and looks a live danger given his solid level of form, whilst Slate's form before disappointing at Ascot looks rock solid (beat subsequent dual-winner Danehillsundance) and e cannot be ruled out now dropped in trip. Another rock-hard race for punters to figure out, however Shmookh has more improvement to come and gets the nomination.
