In depth

Verdict

A maiden that brings several words to mind; strong, classy, well-bred, future winners, and ultimately, tremendously hard to figure out. From a shortlist that could be as long as the Great Wall Of China, we will plump for the aptly-named Bold Choice ahead of principally Mujaadel, Rio De La Plata and King Of Westphalia. A son of Dubai Destination, (the 2001 winner of this maiden who then went on to Queen Anne glory), Michael Jarvis' colt gets the nomination. Costing 220,000 euros, the market will help guide to his chances but if positive then he may be worth chancing. If the market issues a big 'no-no', it may pay to concentrate on King Of Westphalia who brings the best form to the contest. Aiden O'Brien's son of Kingmambo ran well upped to this trip last time out and has plenty more to come. Mujaadel, Rio De La Plata and Strategic Mission all made pleasing debuts and should be all the wiser so warrant respect. Of the bountiful supply of newcomers, Jabal Tariq, a 300,000 guineas son of Rock Of Gibralter, and Exhibition, a 225,000 euros son of Invincible Spirit take the eye and should be monitored for market support, however Bold Choice gets the nomination.
