ALHAQUE is given another chance to get his name in lights here, while Mustaqer and Coiled Spring can also get involved. The selection looked likely to justify favouritism last time out over course and distance but, like his first run, found one too good. There was nothing wrong with his attitude on either occasion, he acts on a sound surface, and entries in both the Derby and the Irish version next year suggest that he is very highly regarded. Mustaqer has not yet raced on a sound surface, but has performed with credit in two outings where there has been cut and the Dalakhani colt can continue his improvement here. Coiled Spring did not improve for his debut when tried at Windsor last time, but he may not have handled the track or the softer ground, so he cannot be written off over this Rowley mile. Henry Cecil's runners are going well, so there is no reason why Hyades, who is related to juvenile winners over this trip, can't show up well on debut. Jess James looks likely to be better at three, but Putre One is interesting. Michael Jarvis's colt cost 210,000 euros and this looks an ideal trip over which to start him, but for today we'll take Alhaque to get it right.
