SO BELOVED didn't have a hard race when opening his account at Salisbury three weeks ago. The runner-up has since franked the form and Roger Charlton's half-bother to Group 2 winner Deportivo is fancied to come out best as he steps up in class. There's little between Hoarding and Rhamnus at the weights though the former looks to have the stronger form in decent handicaps while Ocean Applause has the past form to figure but was below par in both starts last month. Master Ming was an easy winner at Thirsk last time but will need to improve again on today's terms.
Master Ming (IRE) 5-2 (9-3) Soon chased leader, led 2f out, clear over 1f out, kept on well, eased near finish, won at Thirsk 1m 2yo mdn (4) sft in Aug beating Woody Bay (9-3) by 4l, 10 ran.
So Beloved 9-1 (9-3) Dwelt, held up towards rear, headway over 2f out to track leaders over 1f out, went 2nd inside final furlong, led final 130 yards, stayed on well, won at Salisbury 1m 2yo mdn (4) sft beating Tawhid (9-3) by 1l, 15 ran.
Hoarding (USA) 9-2fav (9-7) Tracked leading pair in centre and in touch overall, ridden and went 2nd in group 2f out, stayed on to 3rd overall inside final furlong, never going pace of leading duo, 3rd of 15, 1 1/2l behind Red Avenger (9-6) at Newmarket 1m 2yo hcp (2) gd in Sep.
Rhamnus 6-4fav (9-0) Settled in rear, headway over 2f out, soon ridden and weakened, last of 6, 6l behind Master Of War (9-0) at Newbury 6f Listed stks 2yo (1) sft in Jul.
