Verdict

This is a cracking contest and the vote is given to Sandrey, with Lipocco and Makshoof also shortlisted. The selection showed that he had trained-on from last season with an impressive winning effort on his seasonal return last time at Lingfield. He looked as though he was one to stay on the right side of that day and he looks to be ahead of the handicapper at present. Lipocco will have ground conditions to suit and he won well last time when beating Oldjoesaid. He had some solid form last season as well and he is entitled to run a big race. Makshoof beat Genki at Haydock last time and he gave the impression that there was more in the tank. He is another progressive type and he should be capable of making the frame. Heywood showed much improved form to beat Sparkling Eyes at Chester last time, but his overall form leaves a little to be desired and he looks more exposed than quite a few of these. Mambo Spirit is another that could go well at a price, but in a competitive handicap we will nominate Sandrey as the one to beat.
