In depth

Verdict

A poor contest where a visit to the bar is the suggestion but if you must have a bet then try Armoury House, who is suggested to see off Fisherman Jack. The selection won over a similar trip at Towcester in April before defeat in a hunter chase last time. Fast ground suits and he looks reasonably handicapped so with plenty out of form he is taken to land the prize. Fisherman Jack stayed on strongly to win at Sedgefield last time over 3m 3f and so this big drop back in trip is not certain to suit. Another problem may well be the ground, as his best form has come with cut, so we are happy to take him on this time. Los Suenos has no form to speak of on fast ground, so is another hoping for rain, while Landsdown Princess - from a yard that does well here - just looks too ponderous. Jonjo O'Neill sends Charge It for the contest and he has shown nothing on the racecourse so far, and even Tony McCoy's biggest fan would be hard pressed to lay down the readies there, so we return to the suggestion of Armoury House.
