Verdict

Disappointing when odds on at Carlisle last time, Breaking Shadow is worth another chance back on a softer surface in a race where strong opposition is thin on the ground, with Wigwam Willie and Dispol Isle likely to provide the biggest threat. The selection looked a future winner when second at Beverley on his debut but was seemingly not at ease on the fast ground at Carlisle. There should be no such problems today and Richard Fahey's gelding should be too good for his rivals. Mark Wallace's Wigwam Willie lost no caste in defeat on his York debut and has to be respected although his stable has had a quiet season and a bigger threat may come from Dispol Isle. David Barron's filly has run up to a similar level of ability in each of her two starts so far and should be thereabouts again. Very few of the others with form really merit a mention although a market move for Exponential would be of interest and it is possible that the biggest threat to the selection may come from one of the newcomers. Bryan McMahon's Komaite colt Ingleton would not need to be out of the ordinary to play a part in the finish; a comment that also applies to the William Haggas-trained Season Ticket. However, back on a softer surface Breaking Shadow looks the one they all have to beat.
