In depth

Verdict

Get the pin out: here we go, and the selection is Loup Sifflet, with best of the rest suggested as Airedale Lad and Tod Sloan. Loup Sifflet's best run, arguably, came on testing going and, lightly race and from a good yard, he could be getting in here on a very favourable mark and gets the call. Airedale Lad has a fine chance based on his claiming run last time and has to be considered, while Tod Sloan's Irish form where there was juice in the ground certainly makes him one to consider. It would be folly to completely rule out Burton Ash, given that he is proven here under these conditions, but it would be folly to trust him implicitly too. Glory Bee's soft-ground Italian form brings her into it, while Silver Court showed good improvement last time, but is unproven on the going. Overall, it's modest, with the vote going to Loup Sifflet.
