Verdict

MERITOCRACY made a promising debut when unfancied at Kempton but came up short in slow ground at Newbury last time when sent off favourite. He can make amends on this faster surface and is just preferred to Chamberlain. The latter has claims on his introductory third at Beverley but Hickster was well beaten in the other division of the same maiden. Sartori should improve on his recent debut effort at Bath while the likes of Yorkshire Relish, Peniaphobia and Ifwecan are newcomers to keep an eye on.
