      Verdict

SUGAR LUMP made a winning return at Redcar last week and Eric Alston's charge can defy a penalty with most of today's opposition making their seasonal debuts. That includes World Record, who ended last term with a double and is 6lb higher on his return. Gone With The Wind scored at Carlisle in September and Cadmium was well placed to win three times last year including on soft ground at Hamilton. Pivotman was beaten only a length over track and trip in August off today's mark but prefers faster ground along with Janaab.
