In depth

Verdict

A good race in which FLORA TREVELYAN is taken to prevail from Tropical Paradise, while Theatrical Reward is an interesting foreign raider. Our pick was impressive when an eased-down five length winner of a Sandown handicap last time out. That was also over a mile, which appears to be her optimum trip. If the handicapper is right in putting her up 11lbs then she has to have claims here with the ground to suit and we think that she may have enough improvement in her to win at this level. Tropical Paradise is the top-rated performer in the field and will probably go off as favourite. However, in spite of a nice performance to win at Goodwood last time this stiff mile will present a more formidable challenge and she may be found wanting for stamina, while her best form has been on good ground or slower. Theatrical Reward won't mind conditions and stays further than this, which is a plus, though it is clearly hard to translate her Swedish form to this racecourse, although she has to be respected. Off Chance must be a player for the frame once more but Flora Trevelyan is selected.
