Verdict

The top four of five are the ones to concentrate on here and the vote goes to Annibale Caro ahead of Moment Of Clarity and Decipher. The selection has never won over 10f, but has regularly landed races over 1m 4f, and so this stiff Pontefract circuit can help to bring those extra reserves of stamina into play. He acts on the ground and is generally in cracking form, so even from this mark and with top weight he has plenty going for him. Moment Of Clarity was thrashed at Newcastle last time but also stays further than this and acts on fast ground, so back on this surface is one to take seriously. Decipher was a Newcastle winner on good to firm in May and the slower ground was perhaps the reason for two subsequent defeats, so if the rains stay away then he'd have a chance again here. Dan Tucker looks a bit high in the weights and Redcar scorer Holiday Cocktail - with a decent pilot up - looks a much more likely proposition. However, Annibale Caro is very consistent and will be staying on come the business end and can land the lucky last.
