Verdict

This doesn't look the strongest of maidens and Cape Velvet is the obvious form choice, Expensive Art and Blackmalkin could provide most danger. the John Hills trained filly improved on her debut effort to chase home the 89 rated Tobermorey at Nottingham last September. There looks nothing of that calibre in today's line up and she should easily lose her maiden tag. The other experienced runners look up against it and so we look to the debutantes for the main rivals. Clive Brittain's Blackmalkin comes from a good line that includes the top class Ajdal and Formidable. While Expensive Art cost 57 thousand guineas and is a half sister to juvenile winner Alfie Tupper. House Maiden and Spanish Needle have both shown ability and are worthy of a mention, but Cape Velvet has the strongest form on show and if fit, should easily win this.
