In depth

Verdict

A large field goes to post for this maiden but, on closer inspection, not many can be given a serious chance of winning and the principals look to be Signatory,Grande Roche and A Thousand Smiles, with the confident vote going to Signatory. The selection was a good second on his debut behind Top Gear, is sure to have learnt from the experience and, given nominal improvement, he will be hard to beat. Grande Roche rates the main danger on his latest second behind Lunar Promise but he has had plenty of chances and lacks the scope of the selection. A Thousand Smiles is another that could go well as he is from a yard that can ready a debutant and he should be noted in the market. However, he is bred to be suited by further in time and for that reason is opposed. Of the remainder, Pallas Royal showed a modicum of ability on her debut and is another that is sure to improve, but Signatory sets a fair standard and he will be hard to beat.
