Verdict

FIRST LIEUTENANT, odds-on when landing a point at Kilfeacle and a Gowran Park bumper, made a satisfactory debut over timber in a strong maiden at Navan last month over the minimum trip. He'll be much better suited by today's distance and can claw back a fraction of the small fortune he cost connections. The more experience Steel Park, who was in excellent form at this time a year ago, was five lengths behind at Navan and is unlikely to reverse the form. Lacarmic also made a promising start over hurdles when just failing to hold Barna Gold over 2m2f at Sligo and is another who will enjoy the longer trip while White Star Line ran quite well behind Our Gar over course and distance in April and can make his presence felt.
