In depth

Verdict

This has attracted a maximum field but it’s a dreadful contest made up of low-grade handicappers who struggle to get their heads in front. Top weight Sports Barrow is a course and distance winner, however, and he has to go on the short-list having led until close home at Perth last month. But OMEGA SPRINGS proved consistent after winning at Gowran in September. He almost certainly needed his run at Tipperary last month but was in touch until the closing stages and wasn’t given a hard time by Danny Mullins. That kindness can be rewarded here and he can reverse that form with both Ted Bach and Emily Square.
