Verdict

The rain has ensured soft ground but GRANNY ALICE still looks to have a good chance if handling the surface. She wasn't beaten far despite finishing only seventh in a better race at Newmarket a fortnight ago and the rest have some to catching up to do to match that. Compton River was ahead of Binky Blue when well beaten over track and trip last month while The Card Players never threatened on his debut at Newcastle. On Appro can only improve on her modest debut effort at Beverley with Ingleby Spring and Sunhill Lodge Lady the newcomers to note.
