Verdict

KIWI BAY won this in 2010 and a year later and has the ideal draw as he's a front runner. He was beaten narrowly by Ingleby Angel in a qualifier in August with his stablemate Hakuna Matata just behind but can reverse the form with the winner, who has scored again since at Haydock and shot up the weights as a consequence. Swiftly Done won a qualifier last month narrowly from No Dominion with Toto Skyllachy and Satanic Beat just behind. The winner needs soft ground and if conditions are in his favour, he can confirm the form. Tim Easterby always likes a crack at this and is triple-handed with Lilac Lace, who has shown herself best on Polytrack or fast ground, probably the best of them though she wouldn't want more rain. Snooky was in excellent form at this time a year ago and is better than recent form figures suggest. The three-year-olds Black Rider and Surround Sound fought out the finish of a 7f handicap at Newcastle in June and are at the right end of this ultra-tough handicap.
