Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Another fourteen runner handicap and this second division of the previous race looks to be a weaker affair and a chance is taken on the fitness of HEDGEROW to out gun Labretella and Aqua Vitae. Robert Dickman's daughter of Azamour was given some tough tasks as a two-year-old over inadequate trips but did run well in fairness. Today's trip will still probably be on the sharp side for her but the big field should help bring her stamina into play. She is also nicely bred and cost connections £21,000 so she looks to have been found a weak affair to get off the mark. If fit from her break she will go well. Labretella has a similar profile to that of the selection and should enjoy today's quicker conditions on the grass. We get the feeling his trainer has been running him at Southwell to achieve a winnable handicap mark. His trainer has not had a winner in five years from his limited number of runners which is a concern but he is worth a market check. The Johnston horse, Aqua Vitae is certainly bred to be a lot better than this but has been very disappointing. He is also a doubtful stayer. Others to note are Loss Leader and Elegant Dancer but Hedgerow gets the vote.
