In depth

Verdict

A chance is taken with Instructor, who is just preferred to Intricate Web and Archirondel, who are closely matched on recent form. Another to have a look at is Mamore Gap, who won well here earlier in the month and should cope with the step up in trip. He could be good value for a place. Archirondel has plenty of experience of the course and should be capable of getting involved in this company. However, he does not win very often and is on a 6lb higher mark than when he was last successful. Intricate Web is a dual course and distance winner that will be hard to beat if he is at the top of his game. He should handle the ground and is well worth considering if he is supported before the off. However, slender preference is given to Instructor, who is open to a little more improvement. The four-year-old has been running as if he is ready for this step up in trip and, with the form of his latest start working out very well, Instructor is given the benefit of the doubt in a tricky race to assess.
