Verdict

Not a lot of form to go on here and POPIEL is the tentative selection despite reservations with regard to the worth of his form up to now. Forty Thirty and Storming Sioux could prove to be the biggest dangers to Popiel. The selection was stepped up to a mile for the first time having contested what looked two weak Brighton maidens on his first two starts. The Windsor maiden in which he finished third last time was a stronger event with the first two having shown smart form. Added to that, the front three drew clear and provided nothing shows a large amount of improvement, he should win this. Forty Thirty bids to put behind a disappointing effort over ten furlongs at Pontefract where he was forced to race wide throughout. He commenced his career in a hot Salisbury conditions event and his Hamilton run indicated a small maiden should be within his grasp. Storming Sioux, a half-sister to Best Of The Bests is another newcomer of note. Distant Memories, a Falbrav colt who made just under 50,000 guineas as a yearling and Top Tinker, a half-brother to a smart performer in Topatoo are others of interest but Popiel is nominated to get off the mark at the fourth attempt.
