Verdict

LUCAYAN DANCER won this race last year when trained by Dandy Nicholls and can repeat the feat twelve months on, at the main expense of Night Knight and Guga. Now ten years old, the selection comes here as the highest-rated in the line-up and he is nicely in at the weights. He was disappointing at Newbury last time out but on his previous win at Newmarket (awarded the race in the stewards' room) he looks a major contender. Night Knight was a distant second behind Cobo Bay at Carlisle on Monday but he is a course winner and there is nothing of Kevin Ryan's runner's class in this field, whilst Guga impressed when winning at Yarmouth last time out and with the blinkers on again he is not one to dismiss lightly despite having a little to find at the weights. Atacama Sunrise is a regular in this grade and this George Prodromou-trained filly looks a contender despite needing a bit of luck in running given her hold-up style however with Arkas impossible to fancy on her two runs so far we are inclined to side with Lucayan Dancer.
