Verdict

With the form working out well from two of his last three promising efforts DIAMOND BLADE lands the vote to take this maiden in preference to Francis Walsingham and Rascal In The Mix. After putting a poor debut behind him the selection has started to show some fair ability. He's no superstar but has finished in the prizes in the last three starts and the form from the first two of those has been franked nicely setting the standard for this race. Francis Walsingham steps down in class to try and leave the maiden's tag behind and would have a chance based on his penultimate run on ground likely to suit better. We havn't seen Rascal In The Mix since the penny dropped late to see him run on well in a Southwell maiden in November. He should have learnt from that run and may go better for a quick surface. Choree held her form without improving last time but only mild progression might be needed to do well in this company while Aegean King might improve for this step up in trip after some solid at best efforts so far. Not a race to try and reclaim any losses on the day with Diamond Blade taken to win it.
