In depth

Verdict

Stevie Gee has been impressive in winning his last two starts, latterly in a nursery at Redcar but Alan Swinbank's colt is far from certain to handle the underfoot conditions and a safer bet on the ground looks to be Everymanforhimself, who is preferred to Rainbow Mirage. The last mentioned is bred for cut in the ground being a son of Spectrum out of a Sadler's Wells mare and has done little wrong so far but the likelihood is that he will be better over further and may well get run off his feet over this trip in this grade. Amber Valley ran well on soft ground at a York in May but has failed to progress as much as anticipated since then, while Baltimore Jack has been highly tried and now drops in class. Dickie Le Davoir will relish the ground but needs to improve to beat Everymanforhimself, who has a progressive profile and should relish the ground.
