In depth

Verdict

The return to maiden company can see HARLESTONE WOOD open his account at the sixth time of asking. He's been disappointing in handicaps since finishing second to Guarantee over this trip at Newbury in July but his stable is in much better form now. Tom Queally rides Newmarket sixth Malekov so it's safe to assume he's the best of Sir Henry Cecil's pair ahead of Variety Show but Wolverhampton fifth Maori Dancer is equally unexposed and Multilateral was third on his belated reappearance at Folkestone.
