Verdict

Not the strongest of handicaps and one where TOUCH OF STYLE is taken to score at the main expense of Rosco Flyer and Alfredtheordinary. The last-named is still 1lb above his last winning mark, which was well over a year ago, and the handicapper has been reluctant to relent given his string of placed efforts. He can go close once again. Rosco Flyer is another with that kind of profile. Roger Teal's four-year-old was runner-up on each of his last two starts, both over this sort of trip. He is up in the weights as a result, which won't make his attempt to go one better any easier. Petomic has been given a squeak by the assessor and is worth another try back over this far, though he has fitness to prove after a few months off, and Merrymadcap has to enter calculations now down to a very competitive mark of 70, with trip and ground to suit. Even so, we will side with Touch Of Style. Matthew Salaman has his string in great form and this gelding has won over both 1m 4f and 1m 1f in the past couple of weeks, going up 11lbs in the process. The return to 10f will be a positive today and he can defy his lastest rise to complete a hat-trick.
