In depth

Verdict

Amanda Perrett has her team in fine form and Salinja can overcome an absence of 270 days to land the feature race. Calcutta and Norton are expected to follow him home. The selection endured a frustrating time last season when he gained scant reward for some solid performances. Interestingly, Amanda had decided to drop the son of Boundary back to a mile for his seasonal reappearance and that could pay dividends. There looks certain to be a fast pace with Norton is attendance and Salinja can swoop late. Calcutta showed a glimpse of his best form with his latest second to Samuel Charles and he is eight pound lower than his last success. He can also produce a decent turn of foot on his day, but further rain would diminish his chance. The same remark applies to Red Spell¿s challenge, who has had a busy time of it lately. Norton is on a long losing run while Red Cape, given a fine ride at Newmarket by Frankie Dettori, won¿t be able to dictate and he also needs a sounder surface. Therefore, a chance is taken on Salinja to continue the fine run of Amanda Perrett.
