In depth

Verdict

Cool Box can make a winning debut at the expense of Magic Mountain, St Philip and Mighty Missouri. Amanda Perrett already has a useful juvenile in her yard in the shape of Joburg, and may have another in the shape of Cool Box who is a half-brother to Windsor Castle and who holds entries in both the Shergar Cup and Vodafone Derby. He need not be anything too special here to beat the Hannon runner Magic Mountain who locked one to follow when a promising fourth at Newbury. However, he failed to build on that when soundly beaten at Windsor next time, and is passed over, although he should at least hold Mighty Missouri on that form. St Philip is an interesting newcomer, but Ralph Beckett does not get many first-time-out juvenile winners. For the winner we return to Cool Box.
