    Verdict

FRONTIERSMAN has a superb pedigree being by Dubawi out of the brilliant mare Ouija Board. He's been slow to come to hand but beat a subsequent winner in a maiden at Newbury last month and connections will be thinking in terms of a Listed race if all goes well here. He won't find it easy conceding 9lb to Proctor, however, as Stuart Kittow's charge was impressive when getting off the mark over course and distance just over three weeks ago. Shahbar won easily at Yarmouth and also has claims while Wave Reviews probably found 1m4f too far at Ascot. But Four On Eight has been a beaten favourite in both starts this year and needs to get back to his best.

Shahbar 9-1 (9-7) Mid-division, driven and headway to lead over 1f out, soon ridden, pushed out inside final furlong, readily, won at Yarmouth 1m 1f hcp (4) gf in Jun beating Cote d'Azur (8-12) by 1 3/4l, 9 ran.

Wave Reviews 7-1 (8-7) Held up, in last trio, some headway on inside 2f out, ridden over 1f out, never reached leaders and weakened final furlong, 8th of 9, 7 3/4l behind Manjaam (8-12) at Ascot 1m 4f hcp (2) gf in Jul.

Proctor 6-1 (9-1) Tracked leading pair, 2nd inside final 3f, led over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, clear final furlong, stayed on strongly, eased towards finish, won at Sandown 1m 2f hcp (4) gd in Jul beating Scottish Summit (9-2) by 4 1/2l, 7 ran.

Four On Eight 11-10fav (9-2) In touch, switched left over 3f out, ridden 2f out, kept on to go 3rd entering final furlong, not trouble leading pair, 3rd of 7, 7 1/2l behind Compton Mill (9-7) at Newmarket 1m 2f hcp (4) sft in Jun.
