In depth

Verdict

Silver Hotspur is the pick ahead of the likes of Cuppacocoa, Hephaestus and Diminuto. The draw may be an important factor in the nursery, with preference for those housed high, and with that in mind we like the look of Silver Hotspur, boxed in stall nine. Peter Chapple-Hyam's charge has shown enough on each of his last three outings to suggest that a nursery victory is achievable at the very least. The son of Royal Applause maybe did not impress that much when beaten at Windsor last time, but showed plenty of promise when second over today's course-and-distance in June, and does not appear too badly treated for his handicap bow. Cuppacocoa shoulders a 6lb penalty for a recent second success at Bath and will have to track right over from stall two, while Hephaestus, who should get the run of the far rail, needs to show more than of late. Mark Usher saddles no less than three down at the bottom, with Diminuto perhaps the best of them. However, preference is for Silver Hotspur.
