In depth

Verdict

Safwa looks a stand-out bet in this maiden and she is preferred to Fidelia and Evening Affair. This filly from the Sir Michael Stoute yard sets the standard for the rest on her recent close second behind Alo Pura at Ascot. She had Fidelia a neck back in third that day but she looks the type who has plenty of scope for improvement and she should be hard to beat. Evening Affair could be the fly in the ointment for both Safwa and Fidelia as this Godolphin newcomer certainly looks the part on breeding and the market will be a guide to her chance. It will be a surprise if any of the others are good enough and that returns us to Safwa as the one to beat.
