Verdict

Day du Roy was a convincing winner at Stratford last time and a 9lb higher mark today should not prevent Jonjo O'Neill's gelding from following up in a race where Cameron Bridge and Tanikos are rated the main dangers. Cameron Bridge is gradually slipping to a fair mark but may need more help from the handicapper before troubling the judge and of more interest may be Nicky Henderson's Tanikos. The ex-French gelding has not always looked the most reliable of chasers but seems to be fairly treated on his best form and cannot be discounted lightly. Davoski has to be respected but tends to find at least one too good and is likely to have to settle for a minor role again, while Tom Costalot has given little sign of encouragement in recent starts. All in all not many of these can be given much of a chance and Day Du Roy is difficult to oppose.
