In depth

Verdict

Some Are Lucky was placed in all three starts over fences last season, once on soft ground. He was well ahead of Valhalla at Newbury in December and should find a race or two in the coming months, though Colin Tizzard’s charge is capable of improvement. Sam Red gets his favoured surface for the first time over fences so shouldn’t be far away but BRAAVOS will also enjoy the going and comes here cherry-ripe after three runs over hurdles, including a win at Southwell last month. Abbreviate has always looked a chasing type so is no forlorn hope in an above-average novice event.
