In depth

Verdict

Chartani has shown improved form in Ireland in recent starts and has every chance of defying the rise in the weights for his win at Tramore last month but marginal preference is for one from the home team, ELJAY'S BOY, who gets the vote over Meet The Parents. Michael Hourigan's gelding has run better of late with a win at Killarney followed by a fair fourth at Ballinrobe last time and the seven-year-old should be thereabouts again. There are plenty of Irish runners in the race with claims including Running Late, who has been running consistently well of late and Kevin Prendergast's Norborne Bandit, who has shown improved form recently. Malcolm Jefferson's Pilca has struggled against the handicapper since winning at Perth in May but has been given a chance by him today. Preference though is for Colin Tizzard's Eljay's Boy, who has run well when placed in his last two starts at Stratford and Newton Abbot and off a 1lb lower mark than last time he looks well enough treated to win this.
