Verdict

The four-year-old MAHFAL was just beaten over 2m4f at Newcastle in January but tailed off when tried in blinkers in a novices' handicap over a shorter trip at Sandown last time. This is his first appearance in a seller and he looks a better bet at the weights than Swiss Art, who wasn't beaten far when last tried in this grade but is better with some give in the ground. Sassanian was a consistent sort at this level a couple of years ago but has shown nothing since returning from injury and the others are hard to fancy, even in this modest class.
