    Verdict

This handicap looks quite open and the tentative vote is given to Dakota Rain, with Everygrainofsand and River Thames also shortlisted. The selection has won his last two races, the latest being in an apprentice handicap and as he escapes a penalty for that win he has an obvious chance of following up. Everygrainofsand rates the main danger as he won well last time when beating Don Pele at Yarmouth. The trip and ground should be ideal for him today but he does have a penalty to overcome which does temper confidence. River Thames has been in good form but he is steadily rising in the weights as a consequence and for that reason is taken on. Jilly Why is a course and distance winner and could go well at a price, but for the winner we will return to the in-form Dakota Rain.
